Debuting in 2023, this stunning property in Saint Lucia hosts Cabot’s third golf course and second resort in its expanding portfolio of world-class properties. Consistent with the success of the highly decorated Cabot Cape Breton, Cabot Saint Lucia offers spectacular golf, jaw-dropping natural beauty, a residential community located on a 375-acre peninsula, and an incredible member and guest experience.

The property will feature a magnificent Coore & Crenshaw-designed 18-hole golf course and a stunning collection of residences ranging from hillside townhomes to expansive single-family homes and customizable beachfront lots. Cabot Saint Lucia broke ground on phase one of development in the summer of 2019, and the Cabot Point golf course is set to open in 2023.

 Position Overview:

The Director of Facilities is responsible for overseeing all facility and maintenance management at Cabot Saint Lucia. As the leader of engineering, The Director of Facilities is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive facilities function including all systems and processes associated with this.

Working closely with GM and other functional leaders, you will create a safe and efficient work environment that supports our business performance. Your focus will be on developing and managing the Services Utility, including the day-to-day operation, repairs, maintenance, and projects related to the power plant, sewage plant, reverse osmosis (RO) plant, and distribution systems throughout the site.

This is a pivotal role in our pre- and post-opening phases, ensuring the smooth functioning of the golf course and real estate developments. Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all aspects of Cabot utility department, general maintenance and other projects as designated by the GM.
  • Oversee pre-opening preparations and coordinate with construction and development teams to support a smooth and timely handover and opening. Represent Cabot Operations as required in the deficiency inspection and handover process, operational training on equipment and systems, receipt of close out documentation, participation in testing and commissioning, FF&E Install, operational set up and training, and occupancy.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive facility management and engineering strategies and plans.
  • Ensure efficient operation and maintenance of all resort facilities, including buildings, grounds, utilities, and infrastructure.
  • Direct the facilities functions, implementing policies and safety procedures.
  • Ensure the performance of preventative maintenance assignments on a scheduled basis.
  • Oversee the efficient operation of power generation, water treatment, and sewage facilities to deliver a reliable and top-quality output, minimizing downtime.
  • Diagnose and interpret data (including pressures, temperatures, and electrical measurements) and determine appropriate courses of action, adjustments or repairs needed to maintain a smooth operation.
  • Coordinates projects in collaboration with the construction team and GM.
  • Ensures Cabot facilities and equipment are kept in good, safe, and functional condition.
  • Develops and implements best practices and SOPs in the department as needed.
  • In collaboration with internal stakeholders, inspect work areas and monitor the performance of team members who operate the plants daily to achieve efficiency and high productivity.
  • Oversee that the inventory on hand is adequate in terms of items and level.
  • Develop and manage budgets for facility maintenance and capital improvement projects.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to cater to the demands of ultra-high net worth individuals, guaranteeing prompt resolution times and delivering service levels synonymous with luxury hospitality standards.
  • Implement safety protocols to create a secure environment for staff and guests.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with facility operations and construction projects.
  • Prepare and present reports on facility operations and project progress.
  • Oversee contractors, security, cleaning, catering, and site support.
  • Coordinate maintenance, repairs, renovations, and waste disposal.
  • Manage design facilities layout.
  • Train staff on safety procedures and ensure compliance with regulations and laws.
  • Available to work weekends and holidays (as needed)

Leadership:

  • Partner with GM and Talent & Culture to design and implement functional facilities structure.
  • Hire, develop and manage a team of engineering and maintenance staff to successfully deliver the requirements of the business.
  • Manage employee work schedules (including leave) and payroll costs.
  • Manage people-related matters including staffing, discipline, and performance management, ensuring adherence to local labor laws and company policies.
  • Provide strong leadership as a culture catalyst, leading by example in employee engagement, recognition, and genuine care for employees.
  • Foster teamwork and a positive work culture among the facilities / engineering team.
  • Mentor and develop staff, supporting their professional growth.
  • Set performance goals, conduct evaluations, and address performance issues.
  • Promote effective communication and collaboration among team members and other departments.

Financial Management:

  • Develop and manage operating and capital budgets as well as all inventories, supplies and equipment.
  • Review, approve, and code all utilities-related invoices and liaises with the Finance Director as required.

Safety/Risk Management

  • Ensure safety and risk management practices are followed in the performance of all work within the department.
  • Ensure the team is trained in safety procedures, executes regular training sessions, and ensures proper licensing and certifications are valid.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols, adhering to regulations and standards.
  • Identify and address potential risks related to facilities management and development projects.

Experience, Qualifications & Attributes:

  • 5 Years of experience as a Chief Engineer at a similarly sized property is required.
  • Registered professional engineer in good standing.
  • Familiarity with local building codes and regulations.
  • Technical training certificates in construction or related field beneficial
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar senior leadership role managing a team of at least 5 engineering employees.
  • Strong background in pre-opening properties particular within luxury hospitality.
  • Prior experience in pre-opening development projects.
  • Work experience in the Caribbean is preferred.
  • A leader with excellent coaching, mentoring, and training skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate with diverse groups including employees, management, and Homeowners.
  • Experience managing the operation of both electrical and water plants.
  • Strong financial management skills.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality results with great attention to detail and a sense of urgency.
